The site is located in Florence County, SC in the Coastal Plain Province with a clayey silt impacted zone. Shallow water table at 2-4’. No free product was present.
Soil excavation was performed followed by ISCO/aerobic bioremediation.
899 tons of petroleum impacted soil was excavated and landfilled along with 14,500 gallons of impacted groundwater.
Long term groundwater treatment was accomplished by blending 600 pounds of an ISCO/oxygen release agent (calcium peroxide) into the base of the excavation.
Calcium peroxide was selected to provide a slow release of hydrogen peroxide for hydroxyl radical creation followed by a slow release of oxygen for long-term aerobic stimulation.
